Programme Overview

The Bachelor of Arts and Media is a project-based degree designed for the next generation of creatives. It blends traditional studio practices with cutting-edge digital technology, encouraging students to work across different media to develop a unique artistic voice.

The degree is housed in a purpose-built creative precinct where boundaries between disciplines are fluid. Students have access to high-end workshops and digital suites, working toward a professional portfolio and a public exhibition in their final year.

What You'll Study

The degree transitions from foundational technical skills to independent, research-led creative practice.

Year 1 (Level 5 Foundations):

  • Studio Exploration: Broad introduction to drawing, digital tools, photography, and 3D design.
  • Creative Theory: Contextual Studies 1, exploring the history and theory of art and media.
  • Collaboration: Collaborative projects with students from other creative disciplines.

Year 2 (Level 6 Development):

  • Specialised Studio: Focused development in your chosen area (e.g., Graphic Design, Moving Image, or Fine Art).
  • Professional Practice: Learning about the creative industry, exhibition practices, and self-promotion.
  • Advanced Theory: Contextual Studies 2, focusing on contemporary issues in arts and media.

Year 3 (Level 7 Mastery):

  • Major Project: A year-long, self-directed body of work reflecting your professional creative identity.
  • Exhibition: Planning and executing a public graduate showcase.
  • Professional Portfolio: Developing a digital and physical portfolio for industry entry or postgraduate study.

Why Choose This Programme?

  • Studio-Based Learning: Dedicated studio space for every student, fostering a vibrant community of makers.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Approach: Move freely between digital media and traditional arts (e.g., combining 3D printing with sculpture).
  • Industry Engagement: Regular guest speakers, workshops with visiting artists, and local gallery partnerships.
  • Final Year Showcase: The "G-Space" gallery and campus-wide exhibition provide a platform to launch your career.
