Eligibility Requirements for Nurses Migrating to New Zealand

The Nursing Council of New Zealand will review your application for acceptance if you are a registered nurse in your home country and meet the following requirements:

1 Educational Qualification

BSc / Post BSc / MSc Nursing or an equivalent recognized qualification.

2 Work Experience

Minimum of 1 year (1800 hours) of nursing practice within the last 5 years.

3 English Language Proficiency

IELTS: Reading, Listening, and Speaking – 7.0; Writing – 6.5

OET: Reading, Listening, and Speaking – B; Writing – C+

Clubbing of TRFs is acceptable, provided the results are achieved within a 12-month period.

The Complete Nurse Migration Process, Made Simple

Step 2 - NCNZ Registration

Apply for registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) once credentials are verified.


Step 3 – Competence Test

Receive NCNZ invitation to complete:
