Universities and opportunities

Universities in Ireland for Indian Students

There is no single best university for every student. If you are comparing top universities in Ireland for a master’s, use reputation as one starting point, then examine modules, entry requirements, fees and the award itself. Check whether a programme is taught, research-based or designed for applicants changing subject.

Entry requirements and English language

For undergraduate study, universities assess your school qualifications and required subjects. Master’s applicants generally need an appropriate bachelor’s degree; grades, relevant experience and supporting documents vary by programme. Research applicants may also need a proposal and a suitable supervisor. Use the university’s course page for the exact requirements.

Check the accepted English tests, overall score and individual component scores for your chosen course. Any exemption must be confirmed by the institution. Read the official English language guidance and explore our IELTS preparation programme if you need test support.

Plan around your course deadline

Confirm the start date and application deadline for each programme. Allow time for academic documents, references, English testing, scholarship applications and immigration steps. Before paying a deposit, check the programme against the current Irish immigration eligibility lists.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

1. What is the cost of studying in Ireland for Indian students?
plus or minus icon

Tuition depends on the university and programme. Education in Ireland’s published 2025/26 non-EU fee guide lists undergraduate business at €10,300–€29,000 and engineering at €14,500–€28,500. At postgraduate level, business is €14,000–€40,000 and science and technology €15,000–€31,000. These are dated planning references, not confirmed fees for your intake. Check the undergraduate fee guide, postgraduate fee guide and your university’s current fee schedule. Living costs vary by city and housing. UCD’s Dublin living-cost guide, updated April 2026, estimates €1,735–€4,035 monthly, with a median of €2,445. This is a Dublin planning example, not an Ireland-wide average. Add tuition, flights, insurance, registration and initial setup costs separately. For visa-required students, the current financial evidence rules require immediate access to at least €10,000 for one academic year and access to funds for subsequent years, in addition to course fees. This immigration threshold is not a complete living-cost budget. Eligible Stamp 2 students may work up to 20 hours weekly during term and 40 hours during June–September and 15 December–15 January. Read the official work conditions. Prepare your budget without relying on finding part-time work.

2. Are scholarships available to study in Ireland?
plus or minus icon

Scholarships for Indian students in Ireland depend on the institution, course and award criteria. Compare the amount, eligible programmes and deadline, and check whether a separate application or an admission offer is required. The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship supports eligible full-time study at NFQ Level 9 or 10. It provides a €10,000 stipend for one year, with a full fee waiver from the host institution for that award year. The 2026 deadline was 12 March 2026; consult the official page for the next call. UCD Global Excellence Scholarships offer competitive 50% or 100% tuition awards for eligible programmes under the published 2026/27 terms. Check regional deadlines and exclusions. A tuition scholarship does not necessarily cover living expenses, so plan for the remaining costs before accepting an offer.
