The Master of Professional Accounting (MPA) at NMIT is an applied, 180-credit conversion degree designed for graduates from any academic background who wish to pivot into the accounting profession. The curriculum combines technical coursework in financial reporting, management accounting, taxation, auditing, and accounting information systems with practical, scenario-based learning. Students gain real-world exposure through an embedded industry internship and a capstone research project.
Note: NMIT's MPA is fully accredited by Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) and Certified Practising Accountants Australia (CPA Australia), fulfilling the academic entry requirements for professional membership.
Programme Pathways & Core Formats
The 180-credit program is structured across three semesters and consists of 10 compulsory modules:
- Level 8 Coursework & Internship (135 credits): Nine 15-credit modules covering technical accounting disciplines, taxation, corporate finance, commercial law, and an integrated professional internship.

Entry Requirements
- Academic Minimums: A completed bachelor's degree (or higher) in any discipline from a recognized institution with a grade average of B- or higher, OR an equivalent professional qualification.
