Students build a professional portfolio by publishing work on The Waikato Independent and other partner outlets.
A standout feature of this programme is the 300-hour professional internship. For the 2026 intake, students can apply for funded (paid) internship placements with major media organizations such as RNZ, NZME (NZ Herald), and Stuff.
