Study Pathways

The University of Auckland offers more than 100 subjects across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. Students may choose from Bachelor's degrees in Arts, Commerce, Engineering, Law, Health Sciences, Education, Architecture, and Science, among others. Postgraduate options include taught Master's programmes, research master's degrees, and PhDs across all eight faculties.

English Language Programmes

The university offers English language preparation courses through the English Language Enrichment (ELE) unit, designed to help students meet academic English entry requirements before beginning their degree studies.

Foundation and Pathway Programmes

International students who do not meet direct entry requirements can access foundation and bridging programmes to prepare for undergraduate study. Admission Requirements

Undergraduate applicants must hold a recognised university entrance qualification equivalent to New Zealand NCEA Level 3 or an international equivalent (such as IB, A-Levels, or country-specific credentials). English Language Requirements

IELTS 6.0 overall (no band below 5.5) for most undergraduate programmes; IELTS 6.5 (no band below 6.0) for more demanding programmes such as Law, Education, and Health Sciences; IELTS 7.0 or higher for Medicine and some postgraduate programmes.
