Programme Overview

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (BE(Hons)) at the University of Auckland is a 480-point four-year undergraduate degree accredited by Engineering New Zealand. The programme integrates theoretical foundations with practical design studios, mathematical modeling, and engineering practice. Students complete a common first year (Part I) before choosing from nine specialized engineering disciplines for Parts II, III, and IV.

Note: The BE(Hons) includes a mandatory 800 hours of practical work experience (ENGGEN 499) to graduate, fulfilling international professional accreditation standards under the Washington Accord.

Programme Pathways & Core Formats

The 480-point qualification is delivered across four years of full-time study (120 points per year):

4. Part IV Capstone & Research Project (120 points): Focuses on a major year-long individual or team research project and advanced technical practice.

Entry Requirements
