Programme Overview
The Bachelor of Arts (BA) offers exceptional freedom to follow your interests and study the subjects you love.It focuses on building enduring human capabilities highly valued by modern employers, such as advanced communication, critical thinking, and social adaptability.
Students choose two separate BA subjects to study in-depth as a double major. This provides a strong focus to your degree without restricting your early options, as you have the flexibility to explore different subjects in your first year before finalising your majors.
What You'll Study
The degree is made up of 24 courses across three years of full-time study, moving from broad foundations to advanced specialized knowledge.
Year 1 (Stage I Foundations):
- Major Exploration: 2 x Stage I courses in your first major + 2 x Stage I courses in your second major.
- Core Studies: 1 x Waipapa Taumata Rau core course + 1 x General Education course.
- Electives: 2 x Stage I Arts electives.
Year 2 (Stage II Intermediate):
- Specialization: Continuing mid-level courses for both selected majors.
- Optional Modules: Opportunities to pick up a theme-based 3-course skill module (e.g., in a specific workplace capability) instead of generic electives.
Year 3 (Stage III Advanced):
- Deep Specialization: 3 x Stage III courses in your first major + 3 x Stage III courses in your second major.
- Final Structure: 1 x General Education course + 1 x Stage I Arts elective.
